Apache donates funds for city CNG vehicles

Elk City employees will soon have two-brand new natural gas-powered pickup trucks to drive thanks to a donation from oil and gas company, Apache Corporation.

Representatives from Apache presented the City Commission with a donation totaling $22,000 Wednesday afternoon at the meeting. A majority of the funds were designated towards purchase of two Ford original-equipment compressed natural gas trucks to help offset the cost of the CNG upgrade.

Apache earmarked $2,000 to help cover the cost of filling up with CNG at the pump.

"We think Oklahoma should demonstrate to the rest of the country why natural gas is the alternative for transportation vehicles," said Larry Bledsoe, district manager for Apache.
