The 1966 Pontiac CNG GTO

Mark McConville’s CNG-powered 1966 Pontiac GTO was created as a way to educate Americans on the versatility of CNG and the freedom domestic natural gas can provide from foreign oil. McConville and his friend Keith Barfield are attempting to drive the first CNG-powered muscle car from Santa Monica to Chicago on Route 66. The two are currently partnering with CNG stations, car aficionados and supporters of natural gas to make this dream a reality during summer 2010. The trip will also facilitate classes, lectures and appearances to educate the public about natural gas as a viable automobile fuel.
