NGV Clusters
What is an NGV cluster?
NGV clusters are regional centers where city, state and national fleets work together to convert fleets to natural gas while working with local fuel retailers to install fueling capabilities. By working together, fleets do not need to spend additional capital building their own fueling stations. Instead, they can help a retailer limit its risk of building a station by having a fleet committed to use it. Once a public station is opened by a local, private or government fleet, the surrounding community can also purchase fuel from the natural gas station.
Why are NGV clusters a good idea?
America is the largest consumer of oil in the world. As a result, the country sends hundreds of billions of dollars to oil-producing foreign countries each year. But there is another option. The nation sits atop an ocean of clean-burning natural gas, which provides a smart alternative. By utilizing natural gas, we can create jobs and allow American energy to take a larger role in meeting the country’s transportation needs.
Natural gas has been used for transportation for many decades, and is one of the only readily available alternative fuels that can power both light- and heavy-duty vehicles. It is scalable and viable for transportation and also reduces pollutants by as much as 70%. Through natural gas, America can obtain energy independence.
What can you do?
Like all alternative fuels, compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) lack an adequate network of fueling stations, but this can change with your help. Through teamwork and collaboration, we can lead an energy revolution in America – saving our cities, schools and governments on fuel and transportation costs while improving air quality. We can create our own clean energy future, but we need to act now.
