Comments: The Astra Caravan CNG was released in 2002 and has a small 14-liter (3 gallon) gasoline tank in addition to the CNG tank. It gets 71 hp and can travel 370 km (230 mi) on CNG and 520 km (323 mi), if you include the gasoline reserve.

Comments: The Combo 1.6 CNG uses a monovalentplus engine, meaning that it runs primarily on natural gas (19 kg tank), but has a 14-liter (3 gallon) gasoline reserve tank in case there is not a natural gas fueling station nearby. Comments: This is the first CNG car from Chevrolet available in Singapore. One of the reviews noted some problems with the car, but the other reviews gave it high marks. The Chevrolet Singapore site has links to numerous reviews under the "learn" tab. The Chevrolet Singapore website also highlights the cost savings of driving the CNG version of the car, as opposed to the gasoline version, claiming an average yearly savings of $2,466.

Comments: The B 170 NGT BlueEFFICIENCY is a bi-fuel vehicle that can run on either gasoline or natural gas. It gets 116 hp on either gasoline or natural gas, so there is no performance difference between fuels that has been noticed on other bi-fuel vehicles. It can travel about 180 miles on natural gas and about 620 miles total. Another feature the BlueEFFICIENCY line offers is that the car automatically shuts itself off when idle for more than a few seconds, and automatically restarts as soon as the clutch or brake pedal is released. This is an effort to conserve fuel, and the transition is so fast that the driver won’t notice it. It is currently available in several European countries (articles didn’t specify which ones) and some of the B-series is available in Canada, though the CNG version is not there yet.

Comments: The E200 NGT is a full sized sedan based on the E200 Kompressor. Like the B 170 NGT above, it gives the same amount of power for both gasoline and natural gas, at 163 hp. A switch on the steering wheel allows the driver to switch between gasoline and CNG, and a display on the instrument panel lets the driver see how much is in each tank. When the CNG tanks runs out, the car automatically switches to gasoline, and once it is refueled with CNG it automatically switches back to CNG. It has a total range of 1000 km (621 mi), with 300 km (186 mi) from CNG.

Comments: The Civic GX is the only CNG vehicle available to the public in the United States. It only runs on CNG, unlike many of the bi-fuel vehicles available in other countries that have a gasoline or diesel reserve tank. Honda claims that this allows the vehicle to offer more economic and low-emission benefits than bi-fuel counterparts. Right now it is only available in California, New York and Utah, and orders are already backed up through 2009. It gets 113 hp with 24 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. Honda states that it has a range of 220 – 250 miles, but consumers have reported a range of about 180 miles.

Comments: The Lancer CNG runs on a 1.5-liter engine that is converted to CNG at the dealership when the vehicle is sold. The vehicle is advertised as a more economical and greener option to the traditional gasoline-powered Lancer. The Lancer CNG is also proof that CNG powered vehicles can perform well.
