The World Series of CNG

​I find it hard to believe that anyone doesn’t know this, but just in case someone doesn’t, I shall inform you all. We are in the midst of an utterly epic World Series. Last night, Game 6, was a showcase off unlikely errors, perfectly timed homeruns and impossible comebacks. It ended in extra innings, with St. Louis tying the series at three games a piece. Tonight, the Cardinals of St. Louis will defend their home field and fight for an 11th World Series title. Texas, on the other hand, is vying for their first in franchise history. It’s going to be a good game.

I say all this because it got me thinking: what if this wasn’t a battle of athleticism – what if it wasn’t battle of strategy or strength? If there was World Series of Advocacy, who would win in a matchup between Missouri and Texas? I admit that I’m an alternative energy geek, but even if I wasn’t, this would be a valid question. After all, baseball is America’s pastime. CNG is America’s fuel! So who would win the matchup?

The first and biggest question is which state has more stations (open or in the works). Missouri has 12. Texas has 56. 

Then, obviously, we’d want to know who has better incentives. That’s an easy question to answer. Missouri has no incentives, while Texas has a handful of grants, promotions and rebates for residents of the state.

Finally, there’s fleets that run on natural gas. This category is a tie because, like most states, they both have fleets that run on CNG.

It’s official. If this was a battle for CNG, Texas would win. Missouri has nothing to be ashamed of though. Like many states, their infrastructure is growing. Nationally, people are waking up to the idea of energy independence and all 50 states are moving towards it.
